Don't miss out on Longhorn Caverns, located between Marble Falls and Burnet. If poking around underground doesn't suit your fancy, several hiking opportunities are nearby including Enchanted Rock State Park near Llano. Other recreational activities include a 20 lane bowling facility in Marble Falls, or live theatre in Cottonwood Shores offers plays and musicals throughout the year. The Garden Club meets regularly, and the Highland Lakes Art Guild offers classes and operates a wonderful art gallery.

You can visit area wineries or cruise the Vanishing Texas River Cruise on Lake Buchanan for lunch or dinner and during the fall see American Bald Eagles in their natural habitat. There are plenty of specialty and unique shops ready to cater to your every need. Antiques are a particular favorite in the area. Austin is less than an hour's drive away, through some of the most beautiful countryside in Texas. San Antonio is about an hour and a half south of Marble Falls.

The Highland Lakes have long been Texas' "best kept secret". Over the years, many people have chosen to spend their retirement years here. The area provides all the services they need, and the Senior Activity Center provides many social activities and events.

There are several nursing homes in the area providing full care and a variety of assisted living complexes for those seeking private, minimal assisted housing.

Of course, should the need for medical attention arise, there are Emergency Medical Services, with Marble Falls' being considered one of the best volunteer and paid services in Texas. There are also three air evacuation helicopter services to transport serious medical cases to Austin or San Antonio. Two acute care hospitals, Llano Memorial and Seton Highland Lakes, that serve the area. There are numerous physicians, specialists and clinics providing health care to the residents of the Highland Lakes.
